Tak heran bila Album perdana WPO didukung oleh musisi mancanegara dari lima benua serta di rekam di Los Angeles, Sydney, Kuala Lumpur, Beijing dan Jakarta.

I am proud of my nationalism and strongly believe in internationalism, we want our generation to always seek new ideas an innovation based on our rich traditions, culture, diversity and pluralism as given. “A Nation’s greatness is reflected in her arts and culture”.

Without a doubt, an Indonesian musician has the capability to rouse the enthusiasm of international musicians to participate in a recording project done in various cities of three continents. , with his World Peace Project, was recently aspired and inspired to immortalize his musical ideas by recording an album which not only invited Indonesian musicians, but also foreign musicians. The likes of Jimmy Haslip and Russel Ferrante, members of legendary American jazz group Yellowjackets, also took part in the project. Roger Burn, founder of Shapes, also requested to be involved in the project when he met Dwiki for the first time in Java Jazz Festival 2007, the venue of the project’s premier performance.

World Peace Orchestra is a global project. For that reason, it is no wonder that when the project continued to thrive, more Indonesian and foreign musicians wished to participate and contribute their skills. From , to add a vocal twist, Ivan Nestorman sang songs from Flores and also played guitar. With Dwiki on keyboard and synthesizer, Indro Hardjodikoro on bass and Sandy Winarta on drums, they have completed the first phase of the recording session early in June. The musical arrangements are extremely rich and are complemented by Indonesian traditional beats, which adapted Sundanese, Bataknese and Balinese elements. Ojay Jayaningrat, Korem Sihombing and Zainal Arifin, who performed alongside Dwiki on 15 June 2007 during Indonesia – China Intertwinned held by the Indonesian Embassy in the People’s Republic of , are among the many Indonesian traditional musicians participating in the project.

The lineup of world musicians taking part in the “Dwiki Dharmawan – World Peace Orchestra” album comprise of Jimmy Haslip (bass), Russel Ferrante (piano), Walfredo Reyes Jr. (drums & percussion), Tollak Ollstad (harmonica), Roger Burn (marimba/vibes), Andy Suzuki (reeds) and Rich Breen (Sound Engineer). In addition, New York native presently residing in Steve Thornton (percussion) and Asia’s best drummer Lewis Pragasm will also partake in enriching and enlivening Dwiki Dharmawan’s musical arrangement.

The musician lineup for Dwiki Dharmawan – World Peace Orchestra will continue to expand with the presence of Nyoman Windha, who will spice it up even more with his Jegog Bali. Phillipine’s saxophonist Tots Tolentino promised to contribute his excellent saxophone-playing (which maestro Bubi Chen likened to John Coltrane) to the project. Renowned Australian musicians such as Guy Strazz (guitar), Rodrigo Galvao (percussion), Hugh Fraser (bass) and Andrew Oh (flute) refused to be left behind. They also will be involved in the collaboration. In addition, Dwiki Dharmawan has extended an invitation to two musicians from , who has bestowed their contribution during Dwiki’s recording session at Beijing Oasis Studio with China Philharmonic Orchestra last June.

The “Dwiki Dharmawan – World Peace Orchestra” album will be released in November 2007, both in and worldwide. Prepare yourselves! In 2008, there is a great chance that a “World Peace Orchestra” will take place. Once more, will be overflowed with jazz musicians from all over the world.

WORLD PEACE ORCHESTRA
Inter Cultural Dialogue through Music in Peace

Jakarta is home to a jazz scene in Asia, for the past 4 years since 2005 the city has presented the Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival offering a cross-section of Indonesia’s talents with name artists brought in from Europe, the U.S. and around the world. The Festival presented more than 1200 musicians and hundred of shows over 3 days on the 19 festival stages held at Jakarta Convention Center from 7th to 9th March 2008.

The second day began with a concert by the World Peace Orchestra (WPO), led by Indonesian musician Dwiki Dharmawan at Exhibition Hall Stage B . The Audience were very impressed by the superb musicianship, diversity, skill, and creative artistry of the group, both as individual performers and as an ensemble.

At The JIJJF 2008 WPO is composed of eleven musicians : Walfredo Reyes jr (Carlos Santana’s and Steve Winwood Drummer), Steve Thornton (legendary percussionist and former Miles Davi’s band member), Andy Suzuki (David Benoit’s Saxophone Player), Roger Burn (Vibes and Marimba, leader of Shapes), Tollak Ollestad (Andre Bochelli’s and Al Jerau’s Harmonica player), Indonesian bass player Indro Hardjodikoro, second keyboardist Feby Sukova, Ivan Nestorman and Dira Yulianti (Voices) and Dwiki Dharmawan (Keyboards and Synthesizer). French guitarist which based in Spain Marc Antoinne also plays on several songs.

The World Peace Orchestra (WPO) innisiated by Dwiki Dharmawan. With exploration of many musical genre, WPO express inter cultural dialogue through music. The rich cultures and traditions from many musical background are an inexhaustible source of inspiration and creativity especially on desire to explore various music tradition and local wisdom that have a unique voice and imagination that the world needs to hear.

With Omega Pacific Production Dwiki currently working on his new album ‘The World Peace Orchestra’ which also supported by Jimmy Haslip and Russel Ferrante from Yellowjackets, China Philharmonic Orchestra, Guitarist Frank Gambale, Roger Burn, Andy Suzuki, Tollak Ollestad, legendary percussionist Steve Thornton and Malaysian drummer Lewis Pragasm.

World Peace Orchestra dedicated to communicate to people across the boundaries of time, nationality, race and gender through music in peace.

Compare to the North Sea Jazz festival in The Netherlands, which has been running for several decades, or the long-established Monterey and Newport jazz Festivals in the US, the Jakarta International Java Jazz Festival (JJIJF) which started in 2055 is a relative newcomer, but it has shown potential to become one of the world’s best jazz festivals.

In the theree previous festival, many of the world’s greatest musicians have performed among other George Duke, James Brown, Incognito, Angie Stone, patty Austin, Bob James, Dave Koz, Lee Ritenour, Tower of Power, Chaka Khan, Jamie Cullum, Sergio Mendes, John Scofield, Ron Carter, Richard Bona, Marcus Miller, Joshua Redman, Airto Moreira, Flora Purim, Nathan East, Jeff Lorber, Dave Weckl, Harvey Mason and Level 42.
